Lightbulb True Duals? What are they?

I have been watching the posts here and I see a lot of people like the sound of the "true duals". If someone could explain "true duals" to me I would really appreciate it. This is what I get so far... True duals are straight pipes that come directly out of the cats. These do not have any mufflers or glasspacks after the cats. Or does this mean that they cut off the cats and just run two straight pipes out after the collector pipe? I wouldnt mind losing a little torque for some good sound. Oh yeah, btw I have an AirForce1 intake, will that make it louder as well?
1 more thing. I dont want the poppy sound too much.
Thanks.

True duals means no cats or mufflers..It will be very loud and can be annoying...It will give you a poping souned if you have a standard 5spd when down shifting....the air force one will make it a bit louder

True duals still have the cats, but instead of leaving the factory Y pipe in place I had it cut out, and I am running a pipe off of each manifold (behind the 2 cats on each pipe). You can run mufflers if you would like, but I am running straight pipes (no mufflers).

My set up has no popping but upon acceleration there is a loud snapping to it. I am running 2.5" pipes from each manifold (behind my cats) then running them to my tailpipes which are 2.25" yet. I am planning on changing to an all 2.5" system which will make it louder, but them I will probably run some sort of mufflers.

I have had alot of compliments on my system. I am planning on recording it one of these days since I re-did it.

True duals just simply mean that each bank of cylinders from each exhaust maninfold is separate. I've got true duals with no mufflers on my 02 5.4 and it sounds real good. I even had the muffler shop weld in an "H" pipe between the two.

The truck sounded totally different. It almost had that growl like a Mustang GT, but also had an "echo". I had the shop cut the "H" out and I found out why it sounded sort of funny. One of the muffler guys fabbed the pipe between the left and right side and then marked the outside with a Sharpie marker. His partner got the torch and instead of cutting as close to the mark as possible, the idiot just blew a hole about the size of a quarter in each pipe.

I'm thinking about having it redone correctly to see if it helps my torque. I think it will sound good and it seems as though it eliminated most of the raspiness when you gassed on it and the engine was cold.

Hope some of this may have helped you.
