Torque Maker Exhaust

No its not a namebrand, but I wish they made one.

Here is the question again.

Is there an exhaust mod. (catback or muffler etc.) that will increase torque?

I am strongly considering the JBA catback/muffler or the Excelerator muffler since it is a copy of the magnaflow but does not experience neck cracking like the magnaflow or a Fullboar muffler.

Has anyone experienced better "take-off" acceleration due to their exhaust mod.?

TXJHawk,

On my 99 xlt, supercab (four door) flareside, 4.6L, setting in the cab, there is not much difference than stock. Others can not tell the difference while setting in the cab. I can only tell the difference in sound when I rev the engine or a wide open throttle. At those times it is a little louder, but not very much. I "felt" a slight increase in low end torque.

Now, I am actually considering REDUCING my stock single 2.5 inch pipe from the cat. back to exit, to a 2.25 or 2. single pipe to increase torque more. Infact, the more I think about it (which is dangerous..ha!) I may have been better off to have left the stock muffler and had my stock pipe replaced with a SMALLER diameter pipe, to increase low end torque. Not sure yet as what I am going to do next.

Ironhorse,
Who makes this Full Boar muffler, and where did you get it from?? Also you said that you slightly increased torque, but where kicking around the idea of leaving the old muffler on, and replacing the tailpipe. Since you are now getting more torque, wouldn't leaving the old muffler on and restricting the tailpipe DECREASE torque??? I know you hafta have back pressure, but it sounds like the stock muffler was too restrictive....
