Removing two of the four cats?

I am trying to decide whether I should do this or just go with a pair of high flow cats. I want my exhaust to be louder without sacrificing any performance if possible. I am currently running a Spintech Si/Do on my 2001 5.4. Good performance, just could be a little louder for my taste.

Will this cause my check engine light to come on? How do I fool the computer if it does?

Any suggestions for a good high flow cat?

Anyone who has gone ahead and removed their cats, please respond with your opinions.

Thanks,
Keoni

Probably not a good idea considering the O2 (oxygen) sensors are behind the cats.

Reason being the removal of 2 cats would cause the exhaust to be a little richer(more fuel than air) if the O2 sensor reads the exhaust is rich it ill cause the computer to lean (more air than fuel) the air/fuel ratio leading to long term problems and possibly converter failure in the future.

Hope this helps

Dont worry about the o2 sensor. you can use a product called mileliminator that fool the computer into thinking the sensor is working properly. It doesnt fool it into closed loop mode but it wont give it the trouble code. It goes in series with the existing sensor.
