Question Muffler Shop in Vancouver, BC Canada with Mandrel Bend Machine?

Can anyone recommend a muffler shop that has a mandrel pipe bending machine in the Lower Mainland, BC?

The local Lordco Parts store wants at least $190 for a #46910 Dynomax 3" tailpipe. That's ridiculous for 6' of pipe. I can buy 7 1/2 ft of 3" straight aluminized pipe for $25 bucks. Pay someone $60 or so to bend it up and slap a weld on it. I couldn't care less for a stupid tip.... doesn't make anymore power with a tip does it?

Finding a shop with a mandrel bend machine is proving very difficult!

Help.

I found out that these guys do mandrel bending but haven't had a reply concerning exhaust pipe work. http://www.aggressivetube.com/index.htm

Other than that, I found the flowmaster 15902 universal tailpipe that is supposed to fit and is actually sold for F150 applications for $93 cdn @ Mopac Auto Supply in Surrey, BC. They also have a Vancouver store.

So... I may not get bending done. Wouldn't be any savings over the flowmaster pieces.

Any other suggestions?

Does having mandrel bent pipes make a difference that is easily felt? I've been told that you might see a small improvement in 1/4 mile time. What you're opinion? I'm thinking of getting a custom cat with a Magnaflow muffler. The guy modifies the Y connector to increase the flow while maintaining back pressure.

I've seen some really horribly stretched small diameter bends done by mufffler shops. I call them "turkey neck" or "chicken neck" bends. They're so bad... I once saw a 3" pipe squished down to 1 3/4 inches cause it was stretched so bad. Horrible sh*t if you ask me.

For mandrel bends the companies that do it make pipe for the large muffler companies (lots of identical pieces). Their minimum charge is something like $125-150cdn.

You're best off finding lower priced mandrel bend universal piping such as the flowmaster tailpipe I mentioned.

On my wife's 92' VW GTI the previous owner had let a regular muffler shop replace the exhaust system. Holy cr*p dude.... they slapped in a regular catalytic converter (45 or 50mm pipe) instead of the 55mm GTI piece, had a couple "chicken neck" bends in it, etc. Goddamn was I pissed when I saw it. The car had a different personality when I hacked the whole sh*t off and replaced it with OE GTI pieces.

Since you have such a specific need, I can't personally recommend a good muffler company for you, but this site may help because it lists reputable ones by area:

The site also has writeups on each one's expertise and such, so maybe it could help you find the best muffler company with a mandrel bend machine, I hope it helps

Best Muffler shop in GVRD

The best muffler shop I've ever dealt with is Butch's Brake and Muffler on King George highway in Surrey. Been a while since I've been and I have no idea if they do Mandrel Bending. If they don't I'd bet they could point you in the right direction.
