Question Exhaust gasket

Does any one know where I can find good header gasket for my 4.6L F150 with JBA headers? The gasket that came with the headers are not very good. I went down to my local speed shop and apparently, there are no listings for header gaskets for the 4.6L. I hope someone can help me. Thank you!

Wink JBA Headers Gasket

Go to JBA's website. I have gone through two sets of less expensive gaskets and returned to buy the ones from JBA. There are probably better gaskets out there but the JBA's worked great

Hey tobyk:

I'm curious about what problems you have had with the JBA's gaskets. I installed a pair of JBA on a my 5.4 2001 F-150 HD and I'm getting what sounds like an exhaust leak when the engine is under load. It is a flutter sound on the driver's side only when the engine is load. When cursing or at idle the noise is gone. No ticking like a leak would normally make. I had a garage and a muffler shop check it out and both say I don'y have a leak. I called JBA and was told that all 4.6 & 5.4 engines with JBA shorties make this sound. JBA said it is the air resonanting in the pre-heat/cat section of the exhaust next to the header collector & flange.

I'm not sure that I believe this is true. How does your set sound. I also though I had a gasket problem but I'm having a hard time proving it.

Thanks
B150

JBA header leak?

Buck150-

after I installed the headers, there was an exhaust leak.
That was the most miserable 7 hours I spent on that truck, so when I heard the exhaust leak, I took it to the exhaust shop and they repaired the leak. I had to buy a new exhaust gasket in order to repair it. That's when I found out how hard it was to find exhaust gaskets for my truck.
After the repairs were made, the leak wasn't there, but to this day, I still hear something that sounds like an exhaust leak, but seems really faint. From what I heard, it is normal for headers to sound like that. Like you, it only comes out a low rpm and under load (like going up hill in OD). I've been meaning to check the header bolts, since they do tend to work themselves out; even if I do have Stage 8 locking bolts. I am curious to find out if that sound is normal. The only repair I did to that was to turn the radio up louder.

I second the "turn up the radio"....Adding a Flowmaster 40 also helped!!!!! If I find out anything else will let you know...

Have you called JBA to ask about the the sound you are hearing?
