Need tips for Borla Install please
I just picked up a Borla SI/DO cat back system for my 2001 Super Crew. Planning on installing this weekend. Anyone out there done this already and have suggestions? Picks would help even more.
Thanks in advance.

All I can think of at this point is soap for the hangers, and a torch to heat the clamps. Pulling off the old system will be hardest. My muffler shop charges me $30.00 CDN to remove old and install a Borla. If you can duplicate that price is it worth the effort to do it yourself? Besides when it leaks they fix it for free.

Mike...thanks for the words of luck. The install went pretty well this past weekend. Had to hack saw out the stock system. Other than that it went pretty well.
There are quite a few SuperCrews out here now. I got mine back in September (09/10/01 to be exact, no way I will forget that date), there weren't too many on the road back then. Now I see a couple on the road every day. XLT, KR, HD, Lariat....there all here. The KR fetches a high price here, my guess is upper $30k's so they're a bit rare. It's tough for us island folks to go shopping in the next state
. Oh well, the price you pay for paradise. Haven't seen a Parker Ranch edition yet, that would be cool though!

The Borla system will most likely install where there is a clamp joint. I used a pneumatic cut off wheel to make 2 parallel cuts in the outer tubing of the joint. (about 2" apart) Then pry the outer tube with a screwdriver to enlarge it. It will slip off no problem. Just be carefull not to cut too deep. You don't want to cut the inner tube.
