Question Flowmaster DF40 or DF50 SI/SO on 5.4?

Hey guys,

Would like to hear your opinions on the Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 and 50. Don't want a quiet Gibson. But this will be for a SI/SO 3" application for my 2002 F-250 Superduty. Anyone seen it, have it, like it, hate it.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Thumbs down phildacf150:

What's up with all the "pop up" web page windows when you click on your web page???? Awesome truck, however.......

Just my opinion, but if you want to keep your low end torque, the Gibson is one that sounds much better then stock, BUT keeps the low end power. Sure, the Flowmasters sound great, but can you afford to lose the low end?

Again, IMO, if you want sound, go for the FM's.... If you need to HAVE low end power, consider the Gibson.....

50 Delta Flow

phildacf150,
I put the Delta Flow 50 on my 5.4 L Screw. Sound is good. Nice rumble at idle, good sound on acceleration, no noise crusing at 65-80 mph. Installed the muffler only on my stock pipes. Less than $150 and 1 1/2 hours. Click on the link to my gallery to see photos. In the "bed extender lock/misc photo" album. As for the 40's, they are a little too loud for my taste. To each his own...

I did see a little loss on the low end on installation. However, after driving 1000 miles, my computer seems to adjust to the change. Feel the power back under 1500 rpms. It really runs better from 2000 to 4000 rpms. And I seem to have gained almost 1 mpg increase mileage.

Also check into the Flowmaster 70 series. suppose to be set up for tow vehicles (no decrease in low end). however, not as loud.

Good luck.

I had a Flowmaster 40DF installed on my 2002 5.4 V8 extended cab and it sounds great. Not too loud, just right. No low end tourqe loss and I definitely have increased HP. So far the gas milage seems better also. I only replaced the muffler and left all the pipes stock.

I've got the FM 40 on my truck. It's louder than the 50, but you keep more low-end power with the 50. If you want to go for sound, get the 40. Want to really have more low-end power? Get a Gibson Sweptside. Just my 2 cents.

See my post about three posts up. Now that I have run some tanks of fuel through my rig, I can report that the flowmaster 40 series SI/SO keeping the stock pipe has increased my gas milage from 12.5 to 13.5 MPG for mostly suburban driving. The HP is definitely better also.
