Borla or Flowmaster?

I'm sure I'm beating the bush with this question. I'm about to get a cat back system on my 99 F150 with a 4.6. I want something with a good sound, but not too loud, inside and out. I had a Borla cat back on my 97 SHO and I liked it. So what do you guys suggest? The Borla or the Flowmaster? Thanks, Eric

Of those two, I would go Flowmaster. Much, much less expensive, nice sound and the same performance. If you wanted stainless steel then Flowmaster is out as they don't offer it.

I put the Flowmaster 50 Delta Flow (SI/SO) on my 2001 SCrew. 5.4. Kept the stock pipes. Nice quiet rumble at idle, little more agressive rumble during acceleration, almost no noise on the hwy (65-80 mph). Didn't lose much on the low end (haven't towed my trailer yet, so I'm not sure how much I may have lost....) but the engine rev's freer and more responsive from 2000 to 4000 rpm.

Chose this route over the "cat back's". Paid less than $150 installed. Click on the link at the bottom of my sig and look under the "misc photos" album for pics of the install. Got a good sounding truck (not real loud - wife and kids don't complain).

Personally, I like the flowmaster sound.

Eric-

I'd do the Borla; cat-back or muffler alone. They're stainless steel and flow approximately twice as much.

I think I'm going to go with the Borla. There is a place in Wisconsin only about an hour away that I can get a dual rear exit for $650 and $30 to install. Has anyone seen what kind of tips are on the Borla?

Where did you find your system for $400? I thought that $650 was a decent price.

Mike, I forgot to ask. How loud is your exhaust in the truck? When I had my SHO I really could hear it well and I think that's what made get on it more often. lol. I don't mind abit loud on the outside as long as it doesn't wake everyone up. Thanks.
