I think a glass pack would take horsepower away. Why don't you just get a 2-chamber flowmaster. Its plenty loud & sounds good.

Hey Max,
You missed the fact that it's a "RED" $18 muffler.
Must be where we can get the real HP gains.....

When I bought my truck it had a si/do glasspack with the pipes straight out the back. I thing it sounded bad a$$. It definetly wasn't crackly like everyone says. Well, where the pipes were welded to the dual out portion of the glasspack was rusted out. I decided to replace the cat back system with a Flowmaster 40 series si/do and pipes out the back. Although it still sounds good and is still loud enough, it just doesn't have the same kind of sound that the glasspack did. I didn't notice any power loss/gain with the change of exhaust systems.

I would say put on the glasspack and if you don' t like it, it wasn't that expensive in the first place. Then just get a 40 series or something.

Peace.

Glasspacks will work, but...

...I wouldn't recommend 18". In my opinion, look into true duals w/aluminized packs at around 24" with an x or y pipe, using 2 1/4" pipes out the back.

Good sound, power, & not too crackly. That's my "two bits"!

User FLATS has some video footage with sound of his truck on the dyno. The actual link doesn't work. You'll have to click on it, remove part of the end of the link, press <enter>, then look for the VID folder, in there I think it's the "..0413.." file.

Never-the-less he has pics posted of his neat X-pipe, dual magnaflow glasspack system. Might be just what your looking for.

if you are running single exhaust, glasspaks are awesome. everybody disses them but I wonder how many people have actually heard it on a f150. Magnaflow, Dynomax ultraflow, glasspak..........they are all the same concept; straight through design. Magna and Dyno will sound different because the body of the muffler is so much bigger, beyond that, I don't see any difference. I have a single glasspak with stock tail pipe on my 4.6 and LOVE the sound. NOW, glasspaks and true duals sound totally different and usually have a tendency to pop more especially if they are shorter versions. I've yet to hear a DUAL glasspak setup that really sounds good, IMO. Also, a Ford sounds totally different than a Chevy or a Dodge so don't listen to them and form your opinion.

Withall that said however, if I have a 30K Lightning, it's probably getting a Magnaflow or Dyno.
