Shops in VA

Greetings fellow "VA F150'ers" Finally looking to take the plunge and get my exhaust done so my truck sounds like a truck Not totally decided on what to get yet, but its in the near future and am looking for good shops to have the work done in the Hampton Roads area.... even a day trip up towards Richmond or across the border to NC isn't out of the question... figure I'd ask to see what ya'll say about the various shops.. good or bad.. thanks!!

Craig

Limelight,

There is also another place about 100 yards down the road, across from Lowes called The Muffler Center. I've had work done at both and the pricing is very competitive. I'm not sure about the Muffler Shop, but I think the Muffler Center sells a couple types of performance mufflers.

If you can't get what you want at one of the shops, there are a couple places around that can order them, and/or have a couple in stock.

Are you planning on a cat back or just muffler replacement with the stock pipes?

I had a SI/DO flowmaster 40 series muffler, and custom bent duals for under 200. I also know the owner Travis, so that might have something to do with it. If you go there, go during the week, cuz the weekends are a zoo!! They do alot of F-150's!!

I heard the Truck center in Moyock does a pretty good job. The only thing I didn't like, is the sales guy kept pushing glass packs. I asked him about Flowmasters and he told me they were junk. All I know is the more I read on this message board the more confussed I get. Duals or Cat-backs????????????????

I had a similar experience with Mid Atlantic Off Road. I was thinking about getting another Supertrapp for this truck, and the guy tried to tell me they are illegal in VA because they are glass packs!

I have assumed that there knowledge in other areas is poor as well, and never buy anything from them for that reason.

I think Pro Trucks out in Chesapeake stocks Flows. If that's what you are planning on you could get them there. Not sure if they do on site installs or not....

Pro Trucks does stock Flows...only the mufflers though, he didn't seem all that sure of what I was talking about when I asked about a y. They don't do onsite exhaust work, and from what I hear, the guy that does their work somtimes welds using old coat hangers!! I think I am going to buy my stuff from Summit Racing and take the truck either to Great Bridge muffler or maybe to the aforementioned shop on Holland. Btw, anybody know someplace online where I can get some nice ss slash cut tips? Does Summit have those too?

Limelight I ordered my Borla from Truck Performance Center. It was on sale for $371 about a year ago.I'm very happy with it,single in dual out stainless steel cat-back out the back.Came with a million mile warranty.Don't know anybody locally that stocks Borlas.

Do any of you believe the loss of low-end torque issue with straight duals. I had a Borla side exit on my 97. It sounded nice but I didn't notice any performance gains. I plan on purchasing a new exhaust to put on my 2000 but I am very confused. I guy at work had a single in dual out flowmaster ssystem installed at superior automotive on portsmouth blvd. they did a nice job.
