Dynomax Turbo?

Anyone have one? If so, what do you think? How loud is it? ANy performance gain with the muffler only on stock pipes? Looking at buying one so any feedback would be nice.

Cool SCOTT-

That muffler flows approx twice as much as the factory "garbage can" and has a low mellow sound; not loud with the multi-cat setup. A much better Dynomax product is the Ultra-flow. It comes in stainless steel to match your factory pipe; the Super Turbo is not SS. The Ultra-flow in 2.5" flows almost 3 times as much as the Super Turbo and has a wonderful, throaty, muscle car sound on these trucks. If used, you'll need a small section of SS pipe for the hookup.

Thanks, I think I'll stick with the turbo. Have read on other posts that the Ultra-Flow is pretty loud.

Cool Scott-

Ok,no problem, just passing information on. The Super Turbo will quiet things down. Good Luck on your installation. You could find a much higher flowing, quiet muffler like the Borla. It's a far superior product and SS as well.

I would go Magnaflow or a flowmaster Delta series. I had a Dynomax turbo on my old Explorer and after a few months, it "learned" that popping sound that glasspacks are well known for.

At $31.95, how much do you expect from the Super Turbo? You get what you pay for. The Ultra-flow is designed like the Magnaflow; look straight through it; that's why they have high flow/HP. The Borla and Edelbrock have a similar approach with a lazy S and a split Y; both modified straight through. All 4 great mufflers.

The Dynomax website has sound files of a '98 5.4L Expy.

I have a Super Turbo SI/DO on my '97 4.2L. It breaths deep even on my V6 and definitely increased power but causes the entire truck to shake at idle and hangers and balancing weights havn't helped. I'm planning on replacing it with a Borla muffler in the spring.
