Question Glass Pack or Flowmaster 40 Series?

About a week ago I bought a 1997 Lariat Supercab 4.6 auto. The guy who owned it before me put on dual (straight out the back) using a si/do glasspack. Well, it sounds good and power is good, but unfortunatly, it is pretty much rusted out from the glasspack back. I can't decide whether to replace it with the same thing or to replace it with a si/do Flowmaster 40 series. I want to keep about the same sound, but think that the 40 series may perform better, last longer, and sound just as good if not better.

Anybody have any experience with glasspacks as opposed to Flowmaster? Also, what is the difference between the 40 series Original Flows and 40 series Delta flows?

I've probably had about as many different exhaust systems as Ford Motor Company.....tried 'em all.

Glasspacks are ok, but they have a cackeling sound that often sounds like a bad muffler....

I have had Flowmaster 40 and 50 series, Gibsons, and Pacesetter.....

Of them all, the Flowmaster 40 series (dual chamber) is the best, in my opinion. It offers a throaty rumble that you can hear in the cab, kind of like glasspacks, but it offers a "power" sound the isn't available on anything else that I have owned...

For sure, stay away from pacesetter, they are junk...

Gibson is good, but does not have that "SOUND" that only the flowmaster can give you....

I currently have a 40 series flowmaster SI/SO with 3" pipes and the sound is great, with no loss of low end torque....that is the one problem I've found...

If you go to twin 2.5" outlets, as most guys do, you'll lose a tab of low end torque....actually, the single tailpipe might gain some torque for you after having the glasspack....LOL

Is the dual chamber 40 series what is referred to as the delta flow series? My local muffler shop claims that they can only get the 40 series with delta flow and that the original 40 series is no longet available.
