Lightbulb New to exhuasts.

I have a '98 F-150 5.4L V8 and want it to sound more manly.

I am pretty much an idiot when it comes to performance exhuasts since I have 0 experience. Here are the questions I have.

I am looking at just replacing the muffler if possible. Here is a link to the one I like.

If I bought this and had it sent to my house, what would have to be modified for it to work?

Is it as simple as just replacing the OEM muffler and putting the new borla in its place or what else do I need or have to do for it to work?

Thanks lots.

You would probley have to buy some adapters. I think the pic said 2.25", and 5.4's have a 2.5" (I think) The Borla is probley longer than stock, so wouldn't be much of a problem. I had a muffler/exhaust shop due mine, just becouse of the complexity of the job.

Here is a pic of mine

Thanks for the info, yours looks sweet!

How much did they charge you to install it?

Would the muffler shop have the adapters?

Thumbs down

Have a good shop do the work. It's hard to get a complete bolt on exhaust done right at home in the drive way. Nothing like a torch and welding rod to make it right.

as frog said, have a muffler shop do the work. Chances are he has all the equipment, (lift, welder, pipe, bender, flanger) to do all the work. The install on mine was around $75-100, dont know exactly though. It did take him a while to install everything though. Good luck in whatever you choice. (he did take my old exhaust out with only one cut, so if I want to reinstall it, it will be easy.)
