Gibson Sweptside

I WAS LOOKING AT THE GIBSON EXHAUST WEBSITE AND I'M INTERESTED IN BUYING A SWEPTSIDE CAT-BACK EXHAUST FOR MY 2001 F-150. I'VE READ SOME POSTS ON HERE SAYING THAT THIS EXHAUST HAS MORE TORQUE AND POWER THAN THE DAULS OR SPLIT-REAR. I CURRENTLY HAVE A FLOWMASTER 40 SI/DO SET- UP, AND I WANTED SOMETHING QUIETER BUT I STILL WANT THAT DEEP GROWL JUST NOT TO LOUD. AND I ALSO WANT BETTER HP/TORQUE GAINS THAN THE FLOWMASTER. DO YOU GUYS THINK THE GIBSON IS THE WAY TO GO? I NEED SOME OPINIONS.

I had the FM 40 Delta Flow series with a single 3" out. The drone was alittle too much for me so I went with the Gibson SS exhuast with 3" out. Big difference!! I got back some low end torque. It is slightly louder than stock, but not by much.

Just installed the Gibson today

I just installed the Gibson 319608 on my 2001 extended cab today, of course anything is better than stock. Its got a good sound to it but not very loud, and everything worked out really well.

Thumbs up Gibson Superflow

I just had a Gibson superflow muffler welded into the stock pipes, and it is SLIGHTLY louder than stock. I am pleased with that because extra noise was NOT what I wanted. There was a noticable gain in throttle response. Overall I couldn't be happier for $93.00 ($68 for muffler, $25 for install). -- Martin

Where in Houston?

Martin,
Where in the Houston area did you find the Gibson muffler/install? Sounds like what I've been looking for, except I can't find anyone around here to install. Everyone has the Flowmasters, can't find the Gibson for my 5.4L SCrew. Better deal than the catback for over $300 IMO.....
Thx!

Exclamation Gibson Superflow

I guess I should clarify that I ordered the Gibson muffler off the internet and then had it installed at a muffler shop. I figure that I have the "Poor Boy Swept Side". I was a little leary of loosing low end power with any cat back, so I figured that the smaller diameter pipes would be just as good for my little 302. -- Martin

he** yeah

I just had my gibson swept side installed yesterday. This thing is cool. It's not loud but it is definately louder than stock. I honestly felt an increase inpower the first time I touched the gas pedal when I drove it out of the parking lot. When I opened it up, I was very pleased with the performance gains. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I have the fastes truck around now but I can definately feel more power and it seems like the engine actually works less to get the truck moving. go gibson!!!

Thumbs up

I just had my Gibson Swept side installed o my 2001 F-150 4X4 adn I love it. Sounds great, looks great too! My only concern is that the tail pipe is VERY close to the spare tire. I may have to readjust or put something between the pipe and tire. I noticed an improvement in response as soon I fired it up! Gibsom is my choice.

Love my Gibson Swept-side single. My four year old and wife don't have to yell while I'm driving, at least due to exhaust noise anyway. :-)
Has a sweet mellow tone that is far better than stock, but not overpowering.

Thumbs up

I had my Gibson Swept Side installed about a week ago. I have to admit at first I was very disappointed in the sound because it was not any louder than stock but after putting a couple hundred miles on the exhaust it is perfect not to loud but you know it is there. I guess it just needed a break in period!
Let us know how you like it.

Very quiet

I've had the Swept Side on my '01 Scab (4.6 litre) for a week now and other than the tone being deeper and having a nice rumble, I truthfully do not notice ANY difference in the level of sound. It has got to be the quietest aftermarket exhaust going.

If you're looking for deep, quiet exhaust that will yield the most perfromance gain, the Swept Side is the one.

Thumbs up Go with Gibson

Boaz32,
Yeap, I had to adjust my spare tire as it was too close the
the pipes on my Dual Sport. No problem. Get a friend to help
you. Just crank the spare tire down a bit to loosen it up and
have a Buddy shove it to the left as you crank up. Simple
solution.
I am very happy with my Dual Sport. Like Smcconaghie said,
"not very loud at all unless you get on it.."

Smile

i have had my swept/side installed for about one year.

i did not notice how sweet the truck sounded until my wife drove it away from the house.

it was such a sweet-mellow-ballsy sound. the performance seemed to improve for me (no stats to back this up) but i was able to drive under load up hills without having to shift into a lower gear, where i did before.

it also seemed to improve more after a few weeks of driving around.

couldnt be happier with the setup.
