Two Mufflers Or One?
Two Mufflers Or One?
What's the diference? How does a two muffler setup compare sondwise to a SI/DO. And how does a SI/DO setup compare to a DI/DO setup? Sowhat's the difference sound or performance wise? -Mark
Ive been wondering the same thing!! A local muffler shop told me that the true duals, with 2 mufflers and a h pipe would sound more hot-rodish! And the SI/DO Which he said is what most people do, adds a mellow rumble depending on the muffler installed. The Horsepower difference shouldnt be a big difference between the 2 (I wouldnt think, but Im no mechanic) Like I said I was told that the difference is a hot rod sound from the true duals, or a nice sounding mellow rumble from SI/DO, which is what Ive done with a Flowmaster 40 series muffler!! Nice sound!!
The only way to go if you are going for HORSEPOWER is to go with (TWO) SI/SO. True Dual exhaust. It's simple, the better the flow the more horsepower. Flowmaster recommends that you use a gas scavenging system like an "H" Pipe to help scavenge gases from the other head (kind of a vacuum system to suck exhaust from one side while the other is trying to push gasses) and vise a versa.
These babies are all set up to be cut at the "Y" pipe. They even come with DUAL O2 sensors so this can be done.
