Glass Packs versus Steel Packs???

Ok I got my exhaust almost done.........today while I was hanging out with my buddies a truck identical to mine rolled in.......had a loud a$$ exhaust that sounded freakin awsome.......me and all my buddies loved it........I though he at leats had a V8 in it, but he had the exact same V6 as I done.... he is running JBA headers into 2 and a quarter inch pipe with 4 6 inch reversed glasspacks on each side....it was awsome sounding....

but alot of people told me that steel packs are better.....

whats the differance in sound? I know what a glasspack sounds like, whats a steel pack sound like? any place I can find info or anything or steel packs? what do they sound like?compared to glasspacks?

whats other differances are there???

thanks for ur help.

Steel packs

Hello Semper Fi, I'm not really sure if it's the same thing but here it goes.

When the glass material in our motorcycle mufflers was too restrictive we would remove the baffle and replace the glass with stainless steel wool. It would breathe better, sound better, and because it was stainless it would last a long time without rotting away and becoming obnoxiously loud.

To be honest, I've never heard of steelpacks but it might be filled with steel wool instead of glass, or it might just be a glasspack with no additional material inside besides the steel baffles.

Sorry I could'nt give you a definite reply but maybe someone more familiar with "steelpacks" can enlighten us both.

Good Luck.

You let me know if you can find out where to purchase steel packs. That sounds awesome. My truck sounds really good right now with the glasspacks, but I'm afraid it'll be back to bubba truck when the glass wears out. LOL. I hope you find out what you need...sorry, I've never heard of them. Later.
