help with glasspacks

Hey guys, I got the exhaust back, and it is almost perfect, just needs a little more volume. How can I make those glasspacks liven up a little...I have heard stuff about heating them up then spraying them with water. Any of that stuff work???

Don't do anything...they get noiser with age..in about three weeks you will notice a deeper tone. The glass will eventually all burn up inside....

Really?!?...It only takes 3 weeks for the glasspacks to increase in volume. Man I hope so. I have nocats, an x pipe, then 18" glasspacks into two race mufflers. It's an interesting setup I know. It is not much (if any)louder than it was with just the mufflers with cats (no glasspacks). It sounds great in tone, but I just want it a little louder. Thanks.

hes right, they do get louder with age. i thought it took more than 3 weeks, but i guess it depends on how much you drive the truck. if you heat the up and spray them with water, it will be like you dont have glasspacks at all because taht destroys all the stuff inside the muffler (good if you want to run straight pipes, but still want it to look like you have some type of muffler). glad to hear you finally fot the exhaust to sound the way you wanted it to! if you know anyone with a laptop, you should record your exhaust and post it here, that way we can all drool over how sweet your truck sounds!

Thanks Donate54. Semper Fi, I know you told me, but now that I have them installed, I refuse to pay any more money (ie. pay someone to cut them off and reverse them). It does sound sweet running offroad exhaust with no cats, but man what a headache it was to finally get the setup the way I wanted it. I'll keep you guys posted on future increases in sound, and possibly on me reversing them or switching to 12" packs. Thanks for all of your help. I can definitely say I have learned a LOT of exhaust do's and don'ts from all of this experimentation.
