Resonator replaced with performance muffler?
Resonator replaced with performance muffler?
2014 F150 STX 5.0 SUPERCAB....
Yeah Yeah, I have heard muffler deletes, resonator deletes, etc etc, Sounds great for everyone else, but still too loud for me. I have a pretty much new stainless steel Flowmaster 40 series, that I was thinking of trying in place of the resonator I have the ability to weld to match the length, and make the part I cut out the same length as the muffler, and use some band clamps that seal butt connections. That way if it sounds crappy I can undo the clamps, pop the factory resonator back in, and be done in ten minutes or less. I used the clamps recently on my fully welded 1970 Torino exhaust, and now I can drop the section between the headers and mufflers with ease for maintenance, etc. They seal VERY well, and zero leaks....
What I am wondering, has anyone done this? Do you have a sound clip you can share? I don't want that raspy cackling performance mustang sound. Looking for something just a bit louder than stock,

Seeing as you know my 98 is totaled, and that 98's had no resonators, you would probably then know that I have a 2014 STX 5.0, which was on the same thread as the totaled 1998. So I don't understand your question. As in, why would I put a new muffler on a totaled truck that is probably already in the scrap yard or crushed?

Or maybe it's just me but resonator deletes and muffler deletes and even having a resonator is only the newer models but either way no need for any further responses then. I'll just do something with it eventually. The confusion has already been corrected in the thread so there's no more reason to let me know.
Don't restrict the flow with a muffler in place of the resonator.
There was a slight difference in noise with the '15 5.0 and deleting the resonator. I haven't and don't think I'm going to do it to my '14.

I noticed on the demo videos that the resonator delete sounds pretty decent, except maybe a bit loud and the exhaust has a bombombombom kind of rumble. When you get on it it seems to have a kind of blippy/blatty tone and I was like no way I am doing that. Muffler deletes are similar to res. delete, only way louder IMHO. There's a guy near me (Kind of) with a raptor single in dual out. He is asking $200 but also has a raptor grill as well. I am not sure if that is for both items or each. I'd leave my resonator on and use the raptor exhaust after cleaning it up appearance wise. Maybe bead blast it and polish the tips. It is the both on one side exit, not under the bumper.
