Low-end Torque

Ok this has been mentioned casually in many postings but. What's the deal with low-end torque, i know what it is but is the best setup for maintaining low-end just to stay stock?
I obviously dont want this so this is the setup that i believe will give me the best sound/performance:

X-Pipe off headers with 3" Core
2 1/4" pipes
2 Flowmaster 40 single?/two? chamber mufflers
out through 4"x12" slash cut chrome tips (if i can find any that fit 2 1/4" pipes!)

Would this give me the best performance (i.e. low-end power?) what do y'all think about the muffler choice should i get a more freer flowing one like magnaflow witth his setup?
And wouldn't someone with a truck want to keep low-end and not want WOT since it is a truck and not a race car?
Who wouldn't want globs of power at the'r disposal with the touch of the throttle?
