Replacing worn 302 in 94 f150

Last summer I bought a ‘94 f150 with a 302, it has over 200,000 miles and has a light knock upon startup that diminishes after the oil begins to circulate.

My my neighbor gave me a 302 out of a 89/90 ish Grand Marquis that only had 60,000 miles on it when it was rear ended.

I would like like to do some work to the 60,000 mile engine to get a little more power then put it in the truck.

My my questions for you guys are these.

1.Which heads heads are better or are they the same?

2.which under $500 mods would you do to get the most bang for your buck

3. Any pointers would be helpful. I’ve never built an engine and I’m really just doing it because I want to.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

If I had the time to rebuild an engine, I would.

Sounds like it will be a fun time.

Do you have a second ride, or is the truck your only mode of transport?

I have several cars, I was thinking of putting a mild cam in it, was hoping somebody here had some experience to share.
