Catalytic Converter

Hey everyone I am new to this site. I have a 2006 f150 lariat super cab. Unfortunately I have to replace both of my cats and I was planning on getting both direct fit cats from master flow. I was wondering if anyone had any input on how they sounded, HP gains fuel economy, etc. thanks!!!

Good to have you on the site. I had to remove your second thread as only one per subject is allowed. Just gets too confusing for those trying to help if there are multiple threads. Just send me a PM if you would like to have your thread moved to another forum.

Thanks
Jim

Most people here who want high flow replacements go with Magnaflow. It's best to use the ones that have the O2 sensor bungs in them.

Don't count on any HP or fuel economy improvements over clean stock cats.

Hi Tony. If you need to replace both of your catalytic converters, our direct-fit cats are an excellent option. However, keep in mind that your factory catalytic converters have failed for a reason. When replacing your cats, it is important to track down and fix the issue that caused your stock cats to fail. If you do not do this, your replacement cats will also fail over time. If you have any questions, or would like a recommendation for your truck, give us a call at (707) 544-4761. We are running an instant rebate of up to $75 off of all qualifying order made in December, so now is a great time to pick up those direct-fit converters for your F-150. Take care.

Flowmaster,

So what is the story here? I've heard that some state inspections will not pass vehicles that have aftermarket cats? Luckily (actually by deliberate CHOICE!) I don't live in a state with emissions testing.

If the cats are 49 state certified for that application, they will pass.

It's hard to say what the circumstances may have been. But, EPA regulations are very specific in regards to how, when, where, why and which type of aftermarket catalytic converters can be installed in a vehicle. If the standards set forth are not met, a vehicle may fail for any number of reasons.
