Got an Airiad Jr intake today
I needed a new air filter so I upgraded to an airaid jr intake with the dry flow filter. Since an intake really doesn't improve power, I bought it for the better looks and sound and the dry flow cone style filter that fits into the factory air box. And the best part it was only 2 bills for the whole kit. It only comes with a new tube (that doesn't look like a distant cousin to the elephant man) and the filter, you reuse the stock air box.

It's a dry filter, the part # 400-799 is the oiled one. The one I bought is the 401-799. You can't always trust the descriptions on amazon, alot of their customers have no clue and neither do the employees. I checked the airiad site and made sure I got the correct part # and ordered accordingly.

The actual page that gives the description does not specify dry or oiled filter, you have to do a product search for a 2013 f150 with a 5.0 and at the bottom of the list that comes up where the jr kits are they state the 401 kit has the synthamax dry filter. It's the only place I found it.

Actually if you read the description carefully, they do specify which filter comes in each kit. The "synthaflow" filter is the oiled one. The "synthamax" filter is the dry one. (I just figured that out)

Some people don't like oiled filters. ..I've had them in 5 vehicles and had 2 intakes on 3 vehicles(1 intake on two 4.2L f150s...04 heritage and 08) and it's been over 10 years since I've had a steady dry filter....every filter and intake was k&n and I've never had an issue...hence why I stay with k&n. If I have issues later I will end up getting a universal dry filter to fit my intake.
So does this give you the intake sound without running lean or giving your MAF a hot oil massage? That is really all I miss from having my intake. I ran an S&B and just never oiled the filter in my 08. I loved the sound it made.
The mass air meter is in the tube of the stock air box, and the airaid jr uses the stock air box so no changes required. The kit only replaces the elephant man tube with a better looking tube and either a dry or oiled filter.
Right, that part makes sense. But does it give you the growl noise that a regular aftermarket intake does?

Without him replying yet...i would guess kinda in the middle. Your tube in the fender is still the smallest part so it's not going to pull in more air than the end allows but it might enter the engine different since it's not bouncing off the edges of the elephant tube sides.
With my loud exhaust, I don't notice any difference at all. I haven't had a chance to get out on the highway and open it up yet to see if I hear anything at WOT.

Well today getting on the highway while coming home from work, there was little traffic so I was able to go WOT from a dead stop and I didn't let off until I hit 90. Maybe from about 4K rpm and up under WOT I might have heard a slight growl from the new intake. I might sound better with a stock exhaust, but it might not either.
