Question Exhaust / Catalytic Conv. Help Selecting

I currently have a 2006 2WD F-150 SCrew.

My exhaust is done. Plain and simple.

Aside from headers, which I am going to get later I want to replace everything from the cats to the muffler, and dump it before the rear axle.

I'd like to go with magnaflow to achieve all this.. and have looked at a few part numbers but not exactly sure what to go with.

http://www.magnaflow.com/02catalytic...irectfit=49705

This seems like the way I should go, but there's 4 O2 Sensors.. I believe my year of F-150 has 2. Now what?

I also am in the state of California, so I need to be California compliant.

I called an exhaust shop I went to years ago, they said they don't sell any aftermarket cats for my year of ford.. (wut?).. They're signed with magnaflow (said flowmaster will give me a more aggressive sound).

Things to note:
No headers
I don't care about drone
I want most aggressive sound I can achieve, recommend me things.

My rear-end is getting completely re-done in december.. Custom raptor deaver leaf pack to fit and 06' F-150, 2.5 16" Swayaway bypasses, and a bed cage. I want to dump the exhaust to avoid all this and to have a clean look. Noise in the cab does not bother me, I have two 12" subs that destroy anything my exhaust can do.

I am looking for 100% performance and aggressiveness.

I also have some ideas for some headers.. but if you want to recommend go ahead.. I've seen some nice long tube and some gibsons I have been eyeing.. will post the long tube link when I get home.

You have 4 O2's (front pair = A/F closed-loop control, rear pair = cat efficiency monitors) and 2 cats.

Cali? Not much latitude if you want to stay legal. Avoid Fartmaster.

Thank you!

Well I at least want to go aftermarket.

My exhaust is okay when I am going above 40mph.

But when I am slow and I go up a driveway, terrible rattling, etc.

I just want to replace everything and go performance. Are those two links the correct cats I should be going with?

I don't think there are any aftermarket CARB-certified cats for your truck (you didn't specify which engine) but I'd recommend you contact Magnaflow directly. If they aren't OEM or CARB-certified aftermarket, you won't pass smog.

Yep, called Magnaflow there are no cats for my truck that are CA compliant if my truck is registered in CA.

Unfortunate.. do Cats go bad? I am not sure what's making this rattling sound.

Either the exhaust is cracked or the muffler is completely torn, or my firewall / heat shield on the underbelly is loose or n banging around. I'll have them inspect it tomorrow.

You have 2 front and 2 rear O2 sensors. Cats definitely go bad. Rattling inside cats is usually broken internals; fractured honeycomb. If something else is rattling, exhaust hangers (the bolts that hold these on come loose a lot of the time when you mess with them. I've tightened mine a few times), heat shields, etc. are common culprits. To my knowledge, you have to buy OEM cats or other super expensive ones that are as good or better. I also think it's illegal to have headers of any kind on a CA vehicle, but that I may be wrong about.

So my conclusion, MOVE! Also, unless you have a buddy willing to pass you, I wouldn't touch the exhaust from the cats forward. Cali guys have such huge consequences for illegally passing trucks that I wouldn't expect many to do it. Even here, a single violation is a 6 month suspension of your license to do state inspections.

That's not good news... We'll I'm getting a new muffler and tubing installed tomorrow.. so hopefully they can check it out and diagnose where the rattle is coming from with some things removed.

After much researching and searching of this forums and google.

California blows.

I'm almost willing to get long tube, aftermarket hi-flow cats.. and just keep my oem **** to use every 2 years.

Or keep my oem cats, get shorties, and just wish.

California blows baaaaad haha. But once you do headers, there is NO way you'd ever take them off to put stock stuff back on only to put the headers back on. It's a PITA.

IMO, shorties aren't worth the cost or PITA, so I'd just leave your exhaust alone upstream of the cats.
