1997 4 x 4 5.4 header question

Hey guys, looking for some help regarding OBX Long tube headers. I can only find listings for 99-03 4x4 w/5.4 and nothing from them to fit 1997 4x4 w/5.4. I see that pacesetters long tubes all supposedly fit, though i have seen many post problems with them on all years, and I dont want that, really need stainless, but OBX seem to be the only ones not priced clear out in the stratosphere....my question is what would be different between 97 and 98 to the 99-2003 models that they wont fit?I have worked on these trucks for years and can't really say what I am missing here, but I don't want to order something that wont fit! May just port and polish the stock manifolds and install true duals...Any input would be appreciated! Thanks Guys!

ok, 111 views and not one person has even made a response! lol Maybe I'm not the only one that has hit this snag. I did find out that the EGR tube is different from the 97-98 models compared to the 99-03. I went ahead and ordered a set of OBX stainless long tubes for the 99-2003.Gonna do true duals anyway, so if the y doesn't fit, oh well! Should be here by the 5th, so if anyone is interested, let me know and i'll hopefully have some insite by the weekend.

97/98 are the exact same as 99 on the exhaust port side, -not sure why they say from 99.

If your doin TD's your either going to have to reduce pipe size or get a custom tune. Reduce to 2 or at least 2.25 with the factory tune.

Which did you get 2.5" collectors or 3" collectors.

I have been tryin to find stuff on this for about 3 weeks, just not familiar enough with the right key words for the forum here yet I guess. I was suppose to be getting 3" collectors, but they just called and told me the resonator kits are on back order, so they are sending me catted kit for the same money. Is that gonna drop me to the 2.5"? Probably still a huge improvement over stock. I'm getting them from SparkTec, as that seems to be the norm for who to order from. From what I have seen looks like the mids get extended by 3" to fit the 97? I will find out! What kind of luck has anyone had with the OBX cats? Are they any good? May just leave the single exhaust and get a new muffler to go with. Really just lookin for a little more torque for towing, more mpg if at all possible...would love to see 18, as the 12.5 is ridiculous for the year of this truck. My F250 V10 gets 12! I was thinking about the electric fan conversion, doing the Gotts mod for Air cleaner. Just trying to be realistic on what is worth spending the money on for the return. I don't want to spend 4k to get 4 mpg! lol Just doing lt's to get rid of junk manifolds and cats that are rattling. Truck only has 104,000 on it, so I'm trying to get it in good shape for winter. I'm afraid this is gonna be a repeat of last year and This truck was a wonderful thing for my Wife all winter as it goes through almost too much snow! Thanks guys, gonna try to find Cat reviews on these things and see what everyone thinks, or see if I'm makin my own resonators! lol
