08 4.2 true duals?

Was thinking about getting true duals with mufflers that sound like stock or close to it. MAYBE a si do muffler... but just wondering if anyone on here has done this and if they like it. I want the exhaust to come out the back like a ram r/t without the special bumper. Thanks.

Personally, I wouldn't do true duals on a 6cyl. Sound is terrible, and there's no real performance gain. For sound wise, not sure what your preference is on it, but for a v6 I would go with a flowmaster 40 series. I know they're looked down upon vs a straight-thru design, but they sound better compared. That's my 2 cents. Good luck man!

Thanks. Problem i have is i have heard a few flowmasters and magnaflows and i like the low rpm sound but it just amplifies the ricey sound in the higher rpms. That's why i want to keep it stock sounding. The high rpms now are high pitched but i don't want it worse than stock. I know v6 engines are hard to find exhausts that sound good. I was thinking a magnaflow over a flowmasters for quality and also i heard Maggies are stainless whereas flows arent...? Don't know. Just know ivd searched youtube for sounds and liked a few idle sounds but not the revving. My girlfriend's dad has a si do muffler on a 3.9L Dakota. ..and it sounds pretty good...maybe ill see what it is and try it on mine.. still leaving my options open tho. I'd rather keep stock sound or close to it but there would be no performance benefit that way.

Flowmasters are stainless steel too. You should also look into the borla pro xs mufflers they are a good medium between the flowmaster and magnaflow sound.

Yeah it just depends on what you like best, I used to have a 98 blazer with the 4.3L and 40 flows sounded pretty good until, like you were saying, I started to get about 3k, then it would start to sound a little ricey. Just find what works best for you.
