Question about Muffler size

Hey guys,
I feel like a bit of a moron asking this question, but I'm kinda green in the exhaust field. I am wanting to put a SI/SO muffler (Borla XR1) into a Y-pipe with duals out the back. My truck is a 2009 FX4 with the 5.4L, and I believe the factory pipes measure at 2-3/4". My question is what inlet/outlet size should the muffler be? And should I have 2.5" pipes or keep the 2-3/4" on the outlet? Thanks.

I'd go 2.25" pipe for the duals after the Y

So then I would need a 3 inch inlet/2.5 inch outlet muffler?
