Magnaflow Catalytic Converters
Magnaflow Catalytic Converters
Hey guys, so I used to have a stopped up cat on my left side, so I rigged it by cutting it open, tearing the honey comb out and getting rid of all the crud inside of it, it now does not have the correct back pressuring I am guessing so it throws a code on that cat, IK took it down the other week and cut it back open and welding it back to make sure it was not stopped up but it is still in tact, but I am getting ready to trade my vehicle in in about a year and getting everything fixed the correct way, what are the part numbers for a
2006 Ford F150 5.4 XLT 2WD Maganflow cat that only takes 2 converters to replace the four, and also I have a question, does mufflers get burned out, someone told me they did and the performance eventually gets worn down, is that true? And also, are the maganaflows goods, should I see a extra performance from this? Should I also go ahead and buy new O2 Sensors for these? ALSO last question I swear :P
What causes the catalytic converters to get stopped up with that gunk? Is there a way to fix this issue or check for the main causing problem?

#94106. Your truck only has 2 cats though, not 4. I also have an 06 5.4 XLT 2WD, with a complete exhaust from the headers back, and I have my 2 cats in my toolbox, so I know it only has 2
They're of solid quality, will last well longer than a year. Mufflers don't really get blown out anymore IMO, just (fiber)glass packs do. Mufflers can mildly lose their "stuffing" but not a whole lot. Mufflers can have their internal structure damaged though. Either way, it won't ever noticeably effect performance, in my opinion.
Running too rich can stop the cats up, and I'm sure a bunch of other things can. They also just lose efficiency over time as well, as the precious metals inside get used up. You could see a mild performance increase, mostly because your truck ran like crap with a clogged cat. Depending on mileage, which I assume to be in excess of 100k, I would get new O2s, at least upstreams.
I could sell you my 2 cats for real cheap . . .
Good working order and protected from the elements since they were removed haha.
All of this info can be found on the website though, if you want to check everything I've said and/or obtain even more info about it all, as much of what I said I have read 15 times over the months haha.

The 04s have 4, so you probably heard it from someone that owns one. People on Twitter and FB also like to think that they all have 4 . . . haha. I wasn't trying to correct you, just let ya know and give my proof of how I know haha.
I don't have any cats though haha. If I were to put some in, which I have thought about, and was considering doing before getting my truck inspected last week but am now not because I'm good for another year after slipping the guy some extra cash, I would get those Magnaflows. For the money, I think they're the best you can get. They're dirt cheap for what they are, in my opinion.
Also, there may be other number Magnaflow cats that fit, that's just the part number I have remembered.
