But I'm a big fan of cutting the old muffler out (I know in your case it already had a cat-back) and welding a new one in, leaving everything else in place. Extremely economical option for the same sound.

Don't forget to add a larger diameter tip. Makes a big difference too. I did exactly that and heres a video to show what the 12" x 3.5" tip does to sound.

That's actually surprising how much of a difference that makes.

Yea it made a huge difference. I wonder if 18" would have been any different. I think the rolled edge gives more of an echo too.

I want to say my Borla/Roush tips are 4x18" and are rolled. I just don't know the length of them. It would be different to hear how each length sounds and each diameter as well. I knew they changed the tone, and I don't care for the sound of dumped exhaust with no tip, but never seen someone slip a muffler on in two seconds like that for a real-time change. Some have perforated metal inside them that is almost like a resonator, or the inside of the straight-through style mufflers.

Wow what a difference! Boxer thought that would change so much! Could defiantly see how length and finish cut could make differences though

Yeah that's what I did just replaced the Gibson muffler with the single chamber, Out the back behind the tires. I got 3.5x12" tips on it now.
