CAI worth it with cams and exhaust?
Well I consider a daily your reliable go-to vehicle, but I guess with you it's whatever you're playing with at the time! I don't think there's a chance in hell I could go a week daily driving a 9 second car without getting arrested! Haha I'd enjoy that week though
Ford makes a timing gear wedge tool but I used no tool. I simply held the chain and gear up tight after marking them both and slid the cams in the key ways and bolted them back in dot to dot like the factory cams were installed. Very simple and easy to do....it's easier to swap mod motor cams then it is to swap a pushrod motor cam.
My old dss super pro bullet based 331 carbed motor in a 85 gt with a tko500 five speed ran 10.60@125 on motor on pump gas. Full weight daily driven street car. Also had a nos nitrous plate kit jetted at 175.... Ran high 9s on the juice.
Never done cams in a car, motorcycles many times, in fact you need to take the cams out to adjust the valves on some of them. Doing it myself on my 5.4 3V, I would be worried about the cam bearings being lossened and tightened under spring pressure. Not sure the best way to get around that.
If you want a solid hp boost call Bart at hitech Motorsports about his cams. My 2v pulls hard for a stock head 2v.
The 3v motors are just as easy except the cam retainers are made different from my 2v. My buddy swapped his cams in his 07 3v in less than two hours...it was in his Stang so access to them was easier of course but still same process.

Gonna have to wait until he gets his longtubes on and exhaust sorted I think. It'll sound much better then anyway though
This week I'm cutting the back two cats off. Longtubes and y will be on the truck in a couple months. So it will still sound good but won't be as loud as it can be in the future.
Why are you pushing the install of those off for so long?
Well everything I read said my truck came with four cats. I went to remove the back two today and put it on the lift and it only had two from the factory! Wtf?
