Need Header Install help please

I am seriously thinking about putting headers on my Truck (97, 4.6L). One thing that scares me to death is that after I pull the headers off, I will have to, somehow, get the studs out of the block to install the new locking studs/nuts.:o

Since there is not a lot of room under there, is this very hard? How do you get them out?
What kind of trouble can I expect?

I am really worried that one or two studs will not come out and I am STUCK…

I have had the truck for over 5 years and plan on keeping it for quite a while more…..I just love it.

I took mine to the dealer to install, it is a 5.4 expedition not a 150. But the dealer quoted the job based on 6 hours work and it turned into 8. This is with a lift and shop. I was glad I had a shop do my install

The studs have a 5mm. hex head on the end of them. You use a small (1/4") rachet and a 5mm. socket. The studs go into the head, not the block. Soak them with penetrate first.

Thanks for that tip.

Since I am in the military, one of the FEW perks we have is a auto-hobby shop, with frame lifts.

Since this will be a 8 hour job, I better get there early in the morning because it will be a long day....
