C A I kits ?

Is there a different MAF sensor for the 5.4L 97 to 2003 f150 p/u???

Some of the ads show a completely different MAF then what my truck has??

This is what mine looks like ,, the MAF is really big. Compared to ads,, its day and night difference!!!!!

Is this viable option to replace the massive MAF on my truck???

The adds are stock photos, most likely not ones of the specific one for your truck. Why are you looking at them anyways? Doing the gotts mod gives the same results for about 10 dollars haha.

The Gotts Mod works but don't look as cool as a 77 series K&N set up....lol
I believe the 91-94 mustang cobra MAF is bigger then your stock MAF now and should be calibrated for
19 LBS injectors, plus it looks like the one in the pic. It really won't do much if you have a stock
throttlebody. You would then need headers and a tune to make it all work right.

would like to put one on. Apparently they don't make one for this truck,, that works with the stock maf.

My maf is so big because of the air filter that is behind/in front of maf.

Your MAF un bolts from that air cleaner housing. You have the same set up all trucks came with back then. 4 Bolts will remove the MAF and it will bolt to an adapter ring that comes with the new CAI.

Exactly!
I have the 77 series like pictured at top. Everything bolts up. I did how ever replace the oiled filter with the amsoil dry filter. A much better option over the oiled filter that can foul the MAF sensor.

Your best bet is to do the gotts mod tho its cheaper and works the same way. Just not as fancy.

I will note the 77 series has a box and gasket the filter goes into to help seal off the filter from the engine bay. Its not perfect. According to my edge my iat only reads a few degrees higher then the outside air. So that's not bad.

The K&N filters work great. The over oiling of the filter will screw with the MAF. The average Joe thinks the redder the filter the better. A lite oiling and you wont have any problems.

I don't know what truck your talking about. My truck has no bolts holding anything together on the intake piping. I have two clamps that attach one end to the t/b and the other is for the maf that attaches to plenum, before it gets to the t/b. Even with pic I posted of the one I have, there is no metal plate anywhere in the pic??, confused, there is no face for confused.

The intake you pictured above isn't for your truck.. It's a stock photo, meaning they take one photo and use it for a lot of the products to give a general representation of what it is, it saves a lot of hassle on their end.

If you order one made for your truck with your motor, it'll fit, and most likely even include instructions for you.

I'm assuming you wanna go this route because the gotts mod isn't shiny and pretty looking?

Assuming isn't a good thing to do!!!! And no I don't need shiny and pretty looking.

I am also at a loss as to why you repeated what you stated in your first post of the

question. As of right now there seems to be no cold air intake system for this truck.

regardless of all these companies ads that say they have them. The maf that they

show for the truck is not something that came with the trucks. Maybe if I didn't have emission controls I might have better luck,, as in no maf!!!!!

I was talking about the stock looking picture,, that's yellow.

Dam I found confused face.

I repeated because I think you missed what I meant, what I'm trying to say is the picture the company is showing you is not the one your getting. The maf/intake in the picture could literally be for any vehicle, not just your f150. It's a picture to show a general idea of what it looks like, not exactly the one it is. This definitely goes for that first picture you linked too. A stock photo is literally just a picture on an item they have in their stock that can represent more than one thing. There is cold air intakes for you truck, and you've found them, but relying on that picture to be an exact image of the one you'd be getting isn't gonna work.

Here's another one that'll fit your truck:
http://store.newlevelmotorsports.com/volant29854.html
Hopefully the pictures on this one will remind you more of your 5.4.

And even if you didn't have emissions you'd still need the maf sensor there. But if your still convinced they don't make them for your truck, do the gotts mod.

Good luck.

Can you take and post a pic of the inside of the air cleaner housing. the side closest to the intake where the MAF sits?
Not to stur any shiznik but the pic from K&N is what the one for our truck looks like. The MAF in the pic is an aluminum which is and could be an aftermarket JET or earlier 90's mustang cobra MAF 80mm probably. When I disassembled my air cleaner there was 2 plastic alignment pins and 2 small bolts that held the MAF in the 1/2 of the air cleaner housing closest to the intake. I have had my K&N intake for a long time and have had no problems with the MAF and filter oil. Lite oiling and letting the filter sit for a bit. the oil will spread out, then install after a wipe down with a paper towel.
