Because people want their trucks to run a "fast" 1/4 mile. . . . doesn't make sense to me though. If that's what you like I'm happy for you. A Lightning would never appeal to me. Furthermore, I would never fancy a Platinum or Limited either (if I had to buy them)! To much glam for my taste. Also, an XL or STX is just too bare for a truck that is going to be used for all-around activities IMHO. XLT, FX4, Lariat, and maybe a King Ranch suit me.

If you mod an F150 to go "fast" then you make it into a truck that really doesn't do anything well. It will no longer tow, haul, or drive down a logging trail as well as it used to. It will go a lot faster if you set it up right, but it will still get spanked every time by a Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, Corvette, Lambo, etc. See what I'm getting at? You can haul and tow with a Lightning, but a Lariat with the Max-Tow will do it better. To each his own

Exactly, how is that "easy?" Haha I don't mean to attack, but you made it sound like you did bolt-ons to the Chevy and it became really fast, but that your F150 seems very difficult to get to do anything. Build your 5.4 like that and the b*tch'll scoot! And be faster than the little 4.8

I thought my 06 did perfectly fine for all the go fast mods I did to it...drivability was never an issue with the mods either....it was more spiriting to drive and do those every day activities......
