What's your exhaust setup??
So I'm looking to spend some money on my truck. I may level it, may not. Not sure yet. Anyway, I would like a better sound. I have a 4.2L V6 so I'm afraid it will sound like a 'rice burner'. I hear glasspacks are a no and flowmasters aren't bad. Magnaflow is apparently the best. I was thinking y-pipes or a side exhaust. What I really want is a deeper, beefier sound. What are yalls suggestions.
And what gas do yall use in your trucks? I usually get the cheap stuff but I don't think I will anymore. |
I was also thinking of replacing the cats with straight pipes.

If you want the best, you want Borla. :rocker:

1. You want it to sound like a ricer.... 2. You want to pay at least 3 times what it is worth! |
it's next to impossible to get a V6 to sound good
|
Leave it alone.

I would put a Flowmaster chambered unit on your V6. Otherwise, it will sound weird with a direct flow muffler. My personal opinion though. 4cyls and V8s, and V10s are the only good sounding engines to me.

Sorry to sound negative James. We understand there's nothing you can do, sometimes you just have to do the best with what you have. I used to have an old Ranger v6 with a Flow 40 series on it with single exit and it sounded "okay" for what it was. Darren's right, Flowmaster is your best bet. Don't mess with the cats or it will definitely sound like poop.

Heartthrob cat back dual exhaust. Stock headers and cats.

I had a flowmaster On my Colorado I just youtubed the different exhausts and found the one I liked best it sounded pretty good for a 5cyl
|
Leave it stock.

I'm probably gonna leave it stock. I've seen videos where some are good and others are bad. It's whatever. Any ideas on what I can do to my truck on the cheap?
Anybody here off road with a 2wd? I'm really looking to spend money on my truck. I was thinking of leveling it and getting 30-something inch tires. I'd trade it in for a 4x4 but my grandfather got it for me and he was looking to get me a truck before I had my permit so trading it in isn't really an option. Maybe after high school I'll trade it in. Hopefully I get a naval scholarship. Uncle Sam pays well. |
If it were me I would add a Magnaflow or Dynomax muffler and call it done. I have had both on the V6 Blazer and they sound good. Slightly deeper and louder with no drone on the highway. No ricer sound what-so-ever. Don't waste your money on a full cat-back system.
