Headers for 2005 F250

I have a 2005 F250 4X4 that has developed a rather loud exhaust tick. I haven't tested to see exactly where the leak is, but I've had the 0420 and 0430 codes for quite some time. If it is in the manifold, are short headers worth messing with? I remember them being of little benefit regarding power gains, but I haven't found any long tube headers. Is it worth messing with short tube headers if the only gain is noise, or do they help a little in the power department? What other issues are there with headers? Do the bolts loosen over time? Etc...

Thanks, and I did try searching, but my search skills are so poor that I can't even find free **** on the internet.

I've installed OBX long tubes on my F150 truck, and JBA shorties on 4wd and 2wd F150 trucks. Powerwise there isnt a big difference, even longtubes on my truck was really no difference. The truck weighs to much to really get a butt dyno reading. The power does feel "smoother" overall if anything.

The best thing about shorties are they bolt up to the stock down pipes plus they wont warp like stock manifolds. They are more of a pain in the *** on 4wd but it can be done in a day (assuming you have the tools). I've reused stock nuts/studs on all the trucks and have yet to have any loosen up. People buy stage 8 locking bolts but I think its a waste of money myself.

Thanks. That's basically what I was thinking. That's a lot of money for not much performance. Not to mention the work/cost of installation.
