4.2 Sound Question

so i have buddy who owns a muffler shop and hes trying to talk me out of getting rid of the 4 cats and just keep 2 and do a Cherry bomb extreme to out the side but what im afaird of is that V6 lawn motor sound at high RPMs. ive never never actually heard the 4.2s with an actual exuast system but i know with the chevys they sound like **** once u rev em past 3k. so i was wondering if anyone is doing the same thing or has done it and is it worth it.

Not trying to be a jerk but I would never do an exhaust on a v6 truck. They just sound like garbage :/ switch up to a v8

Stock cats and Y-pipe, SI/DO Gator glasspack, pipes on each side behind rear wheels.

Leave it stock. The lawn mower sound will annoy you.

Yeah I had a SIDO set up on my old 3.0 V6 Ranger and thought I was cool but looking back at that........I must have looked like such an idiot because it sounded like a pissed off weedeater!! Thank goodness I have the big daddy 5.4 which if theres nothing on the radio, the engine and exhaust provide quality music.

You can't compare it to a Ranger - the Ranger is a 60 degree V-6 and the 4.2 is a 90 degree V-6. Different sounds.

We should sticky this across the top of the exhaust section.

If you'd like a good sound with a touch of rice a flowmaster 40 series would be the only way to go....

Everyone has their own opinion. I personally like the V-6 sound, and that doesn't make any of you any better than me.

Hey if you like it then that's all that matters! We weren't trying to say we're better, we just the V6 sound is too ricey and not pleasant to hear for longer than 5 seconds.

My exhaust is good on start up/idle but once you get over 2400 rpm it gets a tad ricey but thats what you expect from an even fired v6.

Someday someone is gonna figure out how to get a nice rumble sound from a V6 with an exhaust system. Imagine how rich they will become if their business sense is good.
