Where exactly to mount mufflers

Hey all,

I've got a question. I'm going to be swapping out my mufflers soon (all too common of a statement, I know) and I want to know where it is best to mount them in relation to the rear axle. In the past, they have always be fore of the axle, but aft of the cab of course. I've heard that they should be as far "back" as possible...so should they be nearer to the rear wheels?

Just wondering.

For note, I am currently running a DI/DO Magnaflow 11" in front of two Dynomax Bullets. Neat tone but I am just looking to change it up. Swapping to two Magnapacks (10416).

Thanks in advance,
Will

as far back under the bed as possible....the closer to the rear axel the better to minimize in the cab noise+drone....

That's basically what I've heard. Right now, the mufflers begin about 6 inches behind the cab (Supercab) and end maybe 6 inches in front of the axle.

I think with just the two Magnapacks I can shift them back to where they aren't so close to the cab.

you can also do a set up like this with a single 3" magna pak or a 3" borla xr1.....
