2012 5.0 borla 40348

A friend at work just bought a brand new 2012 fx4 and is looking to make it sound like a truck. He is thinking he wants duals, so I got to looking at this muffler. Borla 40348 MUFFLER PRO-XS, 2-1/2",2-1/2", 19"x9-1/2"x4" OVAL CEN/DUAL W/O NOTCH. SI/DO 2.5 inch in/dual 2.5 inch out. Just want to verify stock piping is 2.5 inch on the new 5.0 and also get some opinions on the muffler. Thinking about twelve inch long tips 2.5 to 4 inch straight out the back. He had flowmaster on his old 06 and I' ve heard nothing but good things about borla. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the stock mid-pipe size on the new trucks, but the truck will sound very nice with that muffler.

IMHO, the tips you mentioned would be a bit small. I think 4x18 is the perfect size tips for a full-size gas truck.

Does 240 for pipes, hangers and install seem reasonable? That's what I was quoted by the shop I usually use.

That sort of thing will vary depending upon your region and going rates at local shops. I can tell you that I spent $150 for the pipes and labor on my true duals setup.

Well he wants to keep it cheaper so think we are going to get the three inch si/so borla. Can anyone verify that the new 5.0 is 2.5 inch before resonator and three inch piping after?
