Loud Exhaust?

If anyone has heard the Dodge Ram Thunder Road, I want my F150 to sound like that, how do I do that?

Well .. in my experience, to get something to sound EXACTLY like "something else", you eventually end up just buying that "something else".

Different driveline architectures invoke their own 'unique' characteristics to the exhaust note and it's very difficult to get it precisely the same on another architecture.

If'n yall just wanted LOUD - just buy any 'ol Fartmaster, get a 3" holesaw, punch some extra holes in it, and call it a day.

I been tryin' fer years to get my Caddy to sound "Just Like a Kenworth" - I'm still workin on it ...

Headers, high flows and whatever aftermarket or custom muffler(s) after. Done. Be that guy Dodge owners want to sound like instead.

The quick witt is one thing... always having some off the wall picture handy to support that witt is another. I will buy your book sir!

+1! to sound like someone else is one thing, but it's always more unique and better to build your own distinct tone. Go with a set of nice flowing headers, some hi flow cats and play around with different resonator & muffler combinations to get what you want.

I ended up paying just shy of a grand for my long tube headers and exhaust.

It will depend. If you don't care about mandrel bends, you can get a full exhaust system crush-bent from anywhere starting at $200-$450. I'd recommend going with an exhaust fabricator that can source, or mandrel bent, his own pieces for optimal flow (and sound). A setup as that can range from $500 to $1000.
