Stainless Works Exhaust Testimonials

Are there any members here that have purchased headers-catback from Stainless Works? Looks like a solid product but I have concerns about the rear O2 sensors. I have a standard Edge programmer on the way, but I am not sure if it will allow me to "tune out" the rear O2's. My understanding is that they may set off the CEL and that the programmer (or some type of programmer) can clear the code. Any experiences?

About the only experience with them have been my brother seeing a pair at the PRI show in FL and said they were fantastic. Quality made product, but pricey, that's probably why you don'y hear a lot about them. I wouldn't worry about the o2's setting anything off, should be fine.

They're the only option for 2004-2008 4.6 owners, and the $1200 price tag doesn't help. They were a lot less a year ago.

Do you guys sell just the headers for the 04-08 4.6's or do we have to buy the whole kit?

I don't know what engine/model year you have but I believe OBX makes a header to tip kit probably 1/4 the price if they do.

We can get you just headers but then you would have to fabricate your own Y pipe, which honestly may cost you about the same amount of money plus your time compared to getting an entire kit from us that bolts in.

Cool

I bought the complete system back at the beginning of November. The long tube headers with 1 7/8" primaries, high flow cats, X-pipe, and the dual chambered mufflers with the dual chrome tips that exit were the stock system did. As soon as it arrived I took it to the dealership where I purchased my truck for the install. They ran into a small problem doing the install. From what the dealer told me, they had to contact Stainlessworks to cure the problem. It simply was that the truck had to be on a "platform" lift (the type you ride onto), not the type that just lifts the vehicle at the frame. Once that was solved, It was a easy install (as I was told). Now, what do I think about this system on my 6.2? . WOW! The first hit of the key and everyone on the lot turned thier heads. At first it seemed a bit too loud to me, but after it idled down it was . The tone was unbelievable. I've never heard a truck, or car, sound this good. Then I hopped in for the drive home. A "Noticable" differance! It sounds like a "Nascar" truck when you nail it. AND, my gas mileage increased 1-2mpg accross the board! The only gripe I have - It does drone at cruising speeds (55-60mph). It gets better at 65, even better at 70mph. I believe there are two reasons for it (correct me if I'm wrong Mr. Stainless). One, because they are "chambered mufflers, and two, because this system (at least the one I've got) was designed for the Raptor which has 4.10 gears, as apposed to my 3.73's. Otherwise-------I've been smiling ever since. Heads constantly turn. Did I say WOW!!!!

Great feedback and the chambered mufflers would make perfect sense as that is one of their characteristics.

The dealer installed it? How much did they charge if you don't mind me asking?
