Muffler selection

Does anyone have recommendations for a quality quiet exhaust system that will still take advantage of a less restrictive exhaust? There are plenty of threads on ways to make my exhaust louder but I would prefer something quiet for headin out to coyote stands. I was thinking of running twin pipes (with a crossover) off twin mufflers straight out the back. Anybody have any other ideas or suggestions? My current muffler is stock and quiet but about shot and in need of replacement and I wanted to put in a new system that would produce as many gains as possible while retaining the low sound volume.

Why not just do a SI/SO with a 24" Magnaflow?

I had a SI/SO magnaflow on my truck before I went to duals and it was quiet under 2000 rpms.

I did a 24" magnaflow in place of the stock muffler. It was about $80 and not a lot of work. Not sure if your stock pipe is shot. This is very mellow.

Don't waste your money on duals. The only advantage to duals is noise.

Do a single 24" magnaflow and be done with it.

Thanks for the feedback. I have access to a shop with an exhaust bender so cost is not really a consideration, just a bit more pipe and time to bend it. After the recommendations I will probably go the easy way though and just replace the stock system with the SISO and call it good. Thanks.

^ It's not just easier, your torque curve will be lower with a siso system.

I am planning on picking up a SISO similar to the pic above in this thread. When I install it would it be better to have closer to the engine, farther away or does it have any bearing whatsoever?

The farther back the less drone you will have in the cab. Install it as far back under the heat shield as possible.
