Exhause input please!!

So I am looking at getting an exhaust setup for my truck for Christmas. Looking for the best possible sound for the best possible price. I went to a local shop today and he quoted me $300 to $400 for a setup that mainly consists of a SIDO muffler and then duals to tips. Is this a good price or is it a little high? Also, I found these from another member:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/pa...lers-sale.html

And a set of Magnaflow tips from another member. Would I be better off getting the dual mufflers and just having the shop add a y pipe and running it that way? Or would the SIDO be the best way to do it? I am wanting it to sound good, not too loud or annoying, just a kinda mean growl when I stand on it.

Thanks

Most economical way is to go SI/SO reuse as much of the stock piping and to cut the old muffler out.....install a filler piece along with the new borla proXS......and put a tip on the end......

You can get the muffler from here>>> http://www.wickednicky.com/index.html

For the best sound for your buck...

Order a Dynomax bullet 12" length, a Y pipe, and a pair of nice stainless tips. Go to a shop and have them do the rest with an exit of your taste. You can also go with a single tip, but I don't think they look good.

88 I'm wanting duals (or at least the appearance of them). Would this be the best muffler to get for that?:

And I found these tips:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/pa...s-35114-a.html

Would they sound good with said muffler? I'm waiting on the ok from the boss before I send the cash but if they won't work let me know asap please!

A pair of dynomax bullets would give you a pretty good growl for the money....

So you kinda confused me on that last post. I really like the tips, should I go ahead and buy them for whatever muffler I get? I looked up some videos for the magnapacks and they seem really loud. Is it the videos or is my truck gonna be pretty loud with one on there? I'm looking for "mean" not loud.

Then stick with the borla and your choice of tips for the mean sound....

Those tips should work great! Lots of members have them. I have the 4" variety just like them.

Listen to Darrens Video with his Old Setup with Bullets:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jo4eXYrCwRQ

Now listen to 08FX4 with Magnapacks:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZh1vav2fZ0

Not THAT huge of difference. Both trucks are deep, yet aggressive sounding. I think Darren said his Bullets were a little more aggressive than the Packs but either way, like I said you can't go wrong with one or the other! Just a preference of sound you want!

^ I like both of those, but between the two my vote has to go to Magnpacks. They are more costly though.
