quick question

Ok guys don't beat me up too much for this question but i am thinking of replacing my stock muffler with a MagnaFlow 4" round by 14" long (part # 14416) and all stock piping and maybe a 12" tip but not sure yet

Now I am looking for cheap decent tone not crazy loud just not stock is there gonna be much difference??

I have a 08' 4.6 STX 4x4 FYI

Thanks guys!!

That's a Magnapack so yes you should hear quite a difference. The stock muffler looks like a old-style water heater. lol Do you have all the cats still installed?

I would guess the Magnapack will be quite a bit louder than your stock muffler though. I think the stock muffler is 32" long (somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

There will be a difference.

I would suggest going with the 4x22" if you don't want it to loud...(even then)

And a 3.5x16" tip..

Have you considered one of the 6/7x18" models?

Deeper, not as raspy.

thanks for the input and yes its a completely stock system and have no intentions of a true duel setup or any other mods unless its time for a cat replacement but yea deeper is better (gigity) not into the raspy crackling noise not for a DD....the stock muffler has a tinny echoish sound (if that makes sense). I guess the deepest throaty (gigity) sound out of just a muffler replacement is what i am after

so a larger diameter will make it deeper??

Yes.

You need to spend some time on youtube.

I think you would be happy with a round 7x18" Maggy.

Ovals are a bit quiet.

The tip is where you gotta be careful.

Here is a 7x18" on my truck with a 4.6...

It should sound similar on your truck.

The cats are a lot higher flowing then the older trucks.

well youtube is so hard to judge actual sound but that is pretty much what i am lookin for....you are runnin a 7X18 and stock everything??

as far as the tips i understand that they act like a bullhorn and amplify the sound more or less adding volume?? Am i close with that info??

So you have a 3"?? I was under the assumption that my truck '08 with a 4.6 has 2.5" pipe stock through out. If that's the case I need to look into the 3" cause I don't want to mess with reducers for the obvious reasons.

Thanks again for the input guys

just realized my OP says a 12" tip haha obviously not a 12" diameter probably a 3.5" or 4"X12" tip
