best exhaust for 2001?

Ok, hi all! I am new to the forums and im in need of advice from the pro's (you all.) I have a 2001 f-150 5.4L v-8 4-door lariat and i'm trying to decide what exhaust to put on it. I know they're very many options but i am looking for something that is a side sweep exhaust that comes out behind the passenger side door. I use my truck everyday and regular driving with pulling trailers about every weekend. I'm wanting something that will last a fairly long time. Like 2-4 years at least without rusting out. I've been looking at the Gibson line but i'm not wanting a "super truck" exhaust.

Thanks for any help!

Charlie

First off man. There is a GREAT writeup on here called The Exhaust Guide...read that, and hopefully that should help. As for the setup you want, get a quote from a local shop. Dont go for setups online due to them being overpriced. At the shop, pick out a muffler, make sure to get MANDREL bent with stainless pipe. Just tell them if you want true dual or catback, and how you want the exit. Also pick some tips at the shop( slashcut, stainless, rolled edge, ETC)

FALSE! Do not buy a muffler and tips from a shop. They will be way over priced. Buy the muffler(s) and tip(s) ONLINE. The only thing a shop will be doing for you is bending and welding pipe.

And since my mom is part owner in the family buisness (auto part store) i get a slight discount and they order them through an online distributor.

Ya. If you look at that gibson system... Its like a dual square tip with like 10 ish feet of pipe and a muffler..for close to 350 damn dollars! I got my true dual setup with 2 1/4" pipe, muffler and tips for 500 bucks done up at a shop.

For it being overpriced, it really depends on where you live. Me in canada, its cheaper for tips and stuff to get it at a shop compared to online purchases after shipping costs.
