flowmaster to bullet swap
flowmaster to bullet swap
Well I am getting closer to talking myself into buying a dynomax bullet and swapping it with my current flowmaster 40 series. First off, I know most don't like flowmaster and that's fine. I had pretty much the same setup (3 inch SI/SO w 4 inch tip) on my old 04 gmc and it was way louder. Not sure if this is from Ford's cats or what, but I don't want to change to hi flow cats. I am about to pull the trigger on a 3inch bullet with 12 inch body I believe. I am thinking of before rear tire exit, stock exit or under bed after axle with the tip on to amplify the sound. What are your opinions? I have listened on YouTube to get ideas of what it will sound like.
One more question, I read on another forum, that depending on how much pipe there is after muffler will affect how it sounds (placement of muffler, under cab or near rear axle). How true is this? My current one is near rear axle and surprisingly I have no drone. Overall I want more sound.

Best idea of the week! The placement the week muffler and the lengths and bends of pipe do effect the sound characteristics of the system. If a great sound and more volume is in need, go with the bullet and exit in front of the rear tire with a nice dual tip. This will also be the loudest in the cab.
I'm going to keep the same tip as I have only had it on there for 2 months, had no tip for quite a while. Does anyone have their exhaust semi-dumped as I am referring to? Leave tip on under bed past axle to amplify sound without visible tip. Either this or in front of rear tire is what I'm leaning towards. Leaving it si/so. Forgot to mention that earlier.

Dead thread revival as I have purchased the bullet and will be installing Thursday. Pretty set on an over the axle with my 4 inch tip semi dump. Just don't care for a visible exit. Let me know if there is anything that would convince me to leave it in the stock location. Thanks in advance, and there will be a video on Thursday with whatever I get done.
I did the same with my 40 series, swapped it for a bullet. To me not much difference in sound. I have my bullet where my stock muffle was dumped about 6" after it under the cab. I'm going to remove my rear cats (without the O2 sensors) and place a bullet on each side where they sat then dump em 6-8" after. From what I've been told and seen from clips on YouTube it's more the sound I'm looking for
I have an 06 so have just two cats, so hopefully it turns out like I want it. Thanks for the info and hopefully yours turns out the way u want with the cat removal. Sick truck man.
