Black Tips?

Are black tips worth the money? Some guys have told me they're a nice touch on a blacked out truck, and some others have said they get chipped and lose thier black coating quickly. Any suggestions? Maybe a brand that does it best?

just find the tips you like and paint them with vht high temp paint. then when they chip and start to look like crap you can just repaint them.

Your best bet would be to get them powder coated black with a clear powder. I have done a few tips for people with no problems. Powder coat is some tough stuff.

Buy the tips you like and get them powder coated. It is by far the most durable way to go, and cheaper than the name brand black tips.

Why waste your money on black tips. I'd painted my turn down with VHT flame proof flat black paint.

i would definitely agree on the powder coating......the painting gets to be a hassle, probably cheaper, but if you got it spend it, it will be worth your hassles and time down the road.....

check out flopro.com they got a nice selection of powder coated tips. I put one on my truck a few months ago when i switched up the muffler, got the 18" length and 4" outlet 45 degree cut, looks good, my truck is black and wheels are too.

So far no issues with discolouring or chipping but i've only had it on for a few months. think i paid $60 for it, well worth it imo

Jones sells black tips and they aren't expensive. I was looking at them for my truck. I think the 4x18 was $30-$35. I ended up getting 5x18 chrome and I'm going to paint them black in the next few days. I'm going to use Rust-Oleum undercoating. It's ruberized and made for wheel wells and frame rails and stuff so I figure it must be pretty chip resistant. I got it at auto zone

My tips are exiting under the rear bumper. I didn't think they would get hot enough to mess up paint. They never get too hot to touch
