New Exhaust Question

I've been reading up on some of the exhaust set-ups that you guys have and have been intrigued to get a new system

I love the high volume/tone sound of the exhaust and was reading in the thread: "So many to choose from, which magnapack?" Or something along those lines and a member listed the parts he had: 10416 X 2, 35117 X 2, and 10791. Which I'm assuming is a pretty loud setup from what I saw in the video he had on his sig.

Any ideas to what I need and if what I listed above is a good setup? Right now I have dual exhaust, with a magnaflow muffler(forgot the part number) and it's a straight dual pipe out the back end. I'm also considering getting the high flow cats(94106 I believe is the part number) as well. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks guys
Jake

Are you wanting true duals (with crossover) or just dual exit?

When you say crossover, is that at the rear end or under the truck? Sorry I'm a newby with this stuff lol. But if that's the case, I'd rather have just dual exit because of the fact that any change to the exit(tip area) would cause me to have to change my rear body kit. If that makes sense...lol.

here is a pic of DIDO. the magnaflow has the X-pipe built in (crossover). This is just as effective but you don't have to pay for 2 mufflers and a X-pipe. Sounds great when you stomp on it too.

Hmmm I'll have to look into that man, thank you. What is DIDO though? Like a brand? But I want my exhaust to stay like this: http://www.google.com/imgres?q=f150+...1t:429,r:0,s:0

hopefully the link works ha but I want the straight back dual. Can I still run the crossover with that?
And I apologize for my dumbness and not knowing what anything is haha, like I said I'm new to this stuff...especially exhaust.

Ahhh, gotcha. I guess I should read the sticky threads before starting my own...lol lesson learned. New question, I want to get magnapacks, would I need one or two for dual exhaust...my guess would be two but inform me on that if you could ha.

Really it is not "just" as effective. It will do the job okay for this application, but an X pipe will be the most efficient at exhaust scavenging if placed as far forward as you can get it. Generally where the stock Y pipe is located. It is likely to help the entire torque curve some.

Man if I were you, this is what I would do.

I would order 2 magnaflow Y pipes and 1 magnapack (14x4) muffler. THe first Y pipe will be up front connecting your left and right bank from the engine. Run a single 3" pipe from there threw the single 3" magnpack, then to the second Y pipe for your dual tips.

Excellent sound.

i see you want to do high flow cats too.so i would go with long tube headers, high flow cats,x pipe,2 mufflers of your choice and tips. all with 2.5" pipe. then do your cai too then get a custom tune.

^ Not everybody wants to spend the time and cash on the LT headers.

And I would wait on the HiFLow cats until you get your new system done. Then if it still needs more, go ahead with swap.

Thanks guys. I went and looked under my truck to see what I have just based off the fact that I really didn't know...lol. I have two pipes off of my headers which lead to a y-pipe-ish looking thing. That goes into a single pipe which leads to my magnaflow(12198) muffler which then has two pipes for a straight back exit.

I have 2.5" pipes all the way through, and it from what I measured 3" tips but I may be wrong but the tips are definitely bigger than the exhaust piping itself so it may be so. I think I'm going to do what avfrog said and get two y-pipes, the magnapack, keep the muffler I have and just use the 2.5" pipes I have. Yay or nay? Also, is the magnapack the same as a muffler? Where would that be attached, before the muffler(engine side) or after the muffler?
