Dynomax 19387 Cat back

I just installed a Dynomax 19387 cat back on my 2008. It is a 3" single system with a 4" polished tip. There is little to no info on this system so I figured I would post my opinion. I was looking for a mild sounding exhaust that would not produce the annoying drone that so many systems do. This system comes with a 24" body Ultra Flo welded muffler SI/SO. It is the perforated tube with the continuous fiberglass wrap. It is a straight thru design. I found a performance review http://www.offroadadventures.com/articles/view/id/288 that claims 18.1 RWHP and 27.8 Lbs/Ft RWTQ over stock. Sound impressions: Nice subtle idle, what a V-8 should sound like stock. There is very little to no resonance around 2,000 rpm when under load like going up a hill. You can barely hear the exhaust at cruise. From 0-60 it gives off a nice deep aggressive tone, but not overly loud. Overall for anyone wanting a mild-moderate sounding exhaust this one should be considered. I paid $302 total for the system and Dynomax was offering a $75 mail in rebate thru the end of August. I purchased band clamps in place of the regular supplied exhaust clamps as you can see in the picture. With the rebate and band clamps factored in I have $250 in this system. I absolutely love the sound, again it is pretty mild compared to most anything I can find on youtube, but people will notice it is not a stock exhaust. I will try to update this post in a few days with some videos if I can manage to figure out how to download my camcorder to youtube.
PROS:
Price, just right sound (for me)
CONS:
Aluminized only N/A stainless

Looks good. Do you have any videos? I had a Dynomax setup on my old truck and loved it.

Looks Great!
I have had Flowmaster dual exhaust on mine for 5 years now and I have grown to hate it!

Turned out louder than I really expected and the incab drone is terrible. There was no turning back because I cut my oem exhaust up removing it.

I may just have to look this one up.

Thanks for the pics and review.

I had a flowmaster cat back on my 01' Mountaineer. It was the 50 series SUV and the drone was terrible and it was overall too loud for my taste. Here is a link for a short in the cab ride with the windows up followed by a brief idle/rev. I will upload some drive by/ acceleration from outside of the truck in a few days. Sorry if I make anyone motion sick.....lolhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnFJrmfJ080

You know that 18hp/27 tq gain is the biggest crock of **** ever, right? You wont gain anything but sound with exhaust.

Yeah, I definately didn't buy an exhaust for performance gains. Like I said I just wanted something to make it sound a little more aggressive. I was very skeptical when I found that article, but those "gains" had nothing to with my decision to go with the dynomax. It was 100% trying to find the sound I would be happy with.

In that case i may just go with replacing the stock muffler only. It don't make sense to me to buy the kit then have to take it to a shop for them to install it and weld it - kind of defeats the purpose.

Thanks for your reply.

Alot shops are actually cheaper to have a catback custom made than the kits. For my dynomax bullet single in dual out, all I brought in was the bullet and they did all the piping, welding, labor, y pipe all that stuff for only $225 exactly how I wanted it. Most si/do kits are $300+

I just installed this exact kit (Dynomax 19387) on my 04 5.4 and love it. Sounds great. It is not loud but it is very deep. I also think this is what the factory exhaust should sound like.
