Replaceing The cat with a Direct magna Flow.

Hello, I'm going to replace the cat on my 1999F-150. I could use some tips that would help the install if I decide to DIY.

P-0171 SES light (after Cleared- new MAF,PCV) come on after a noontime drive to get a burger.

This trucks has a problem with oil seepage , burns on the exhaust heat shield in the winter but not in the summer. Does this seepage have anything to do with the heater or Defroster use in the winter months.
155,000 miles

^ What is the rest of your exhaust system? Are you wanting it louder?

I really don't see that oil seepage being the cause of you problems. With 155k, it is very likely that the catalyst in one or both converters has gone bad.

No, I'm not wanting to go louder, I just want this light off and a smooth running 5.4 again.

with this mileage, how long could an EGR go? i replaced it at about 115,00. So far this month: new paper filter, MAF, PCV. just prior to the light, sometime at decceleration the engine would buck , feeling like a down shift.

You could order universal cats and save alot of cash over oem stuff.
