Exhaust Question

Do I need to buy two catalytic converters since it has two in the stock system? I want to make sure this exhaust system is all I need on my truck from the headers back.

Please for your sake dont buy that flowmaster kit. Buy a muffler you want and have a shop weld it together. Youll save a lot of money and it will sound and last a hell of a lot longer. Youll need 2 cats if your stock system has 2 cats, unless you can get away with 1 (emissions)

What's wrong with that kit? I thought it would be good because it's cheap. I don't have much money and I want to get it changed and inspected before I get my license next month.

Dude, lets think about this for a minute.

First of all, scratch both of your ideas.

Second, consider buying the parts (not kits), and let a good shop fab the work for you. You will save a ton of money.

Order 2 Magnaflow 94106 cats from Performance Peddler, and use the discount code (clubgp). Then order the muffler (not Flowmaster) and tips of your choice and let a shop take care of the rest.

One question though... Why do you need new cats? Noise, or are they bad?

I'm not sure exactly why I need new cats or even an exhaust system yet. My mom keeps bitching saying it needs to pass inspection but she doesn't even know if it's going to fail. My truck has been loud since I got it but I think it is just because of the tires. My mom is trying to make me buy a brand new stock exhaust system and doesn't understand why I would rather get an aftermarket one. I know close to nothing about truck exhaust systems so I had no idea what to look for. Thanks for the advice though and I guess that is what I'll do.

Which of these would be better for my 4.9 v6? Also what size options?

Wow...so many things are wrong with this thread lol. But...well first you'd know if it was loud from the exhaust, or the tires. Your gonna have to have some big-a m/t's to think its the exhaust. But not to pick on you, I mean...if your honestly wanting to do something to the exhaust, pick out a muffler you want, scratch the whole cat thing for now, and go to a muffler shop and just tell them to look it over, and put on the muffler. They'll know if something looks wrong

Have it tested to determine if it will fail or not. Don't throw money at something that isn't busted.

I love how your mom is telling you what to do with your truck (exhaust wise). I got a good laugh about that.

Yeah I think it's pretty gay especially since she has no idea what she is talking about. I'm 16 at the moment so I have to do what she says for the most part. I still want to know what the differences are between those two mufflers are though.

The second muffler is a chambered muffler. It is out. Low flow, and quieter than the first one.

Okay thanks. If I get the first one (http://www.autoanything.com/exhausts...J&AID=10399503), which size options should I get? What size should the inlet and outlet be to replace the stock muffler?

Thank you very much. I suppose that is what I'll be buying when I end up replacing the old one.

Do yourself a favour and get an oval body muffler for that inline...

My truck is a v6. Unless I'm mistaken, that's not inline.
