Exhaust Ideas

Went to my muffler shop the other day and the guy told me using 3" pipe on the exhaust would be to much flow, he said 2 1/2" would be better, decided to go with 2 1/2" but don't know which mufflers to use, anyone have any ideas. I have a 2003 F150 4DR 4.6 with bolt ons.

What type of sound and volume are you looking to achieve? Super loud- WGAF about the tone, loud with a deep tone, poppy/crackly, quiet but some good rumble when getting on it, etc..... That will help people give good recommendations. Also read the thread 88 linked to.

i want my truck to super loud but i don't want to sacrifice any performance since i take my truck to the drag strip. I currently have a super 44 mounted on the stock pipes with under cab dumps right after the muffler.

you wanna keep your pipes single or go dual mufflers? Single you can go 3" dynomax bullet. Thats my setup. Listen to my videos in my sig. Or if you want dual mufflers, go 2.5" piping.

You should clearly remove the muffler and cats, then run stacks out behind the cab.
Not many people run this setup so you guaranteed to be unique.

migdaddy love the sound of your exhaust. how loud is it in the cab? I have a 4.6 and would like to piggy back this thread to get info as long as the O/P dont mind. I was considering doing true duals but the 3" with the bullet sounds great. Just dont want it to be so loud while driving that I cant have a conversation in the truck.

The drone is pretty bad. You can still have a conversation, but its loud. And if your pulling a trailer, thats when your ears bleed at 2000 RPMs. Its a great sound, but im wanting to switch it up to a muffler with the same volume outside but much less drone in the cab.

If I dragged my 97 4.6 it would make it half way and literally have to be dragged the rest. Thats about as close to a drag truck as I'll ever get
